Express Your Grief

through ART.

With Daniel Kanow, Certified Grief Educator and Artist Coach

A Creative Path Through Grief

Art4Grief with Daniel Kanow offers grief coaching through art for individuals and small groups navigating loss, transition, illness, identity change, and emotional overwhelm. Through guided expressive art sessions—primarily on Zoom—we create a compassionate space where grief can be felt, expressed, and transformed through creativity.

No art experience required.
You do not need to “be an artist.”
You only need to arrive as you are.

A Certified Grief Educator is committed to providing the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief.

Certified Grief Educators completed a certificate program designed by world-renowned grief expert, David Kessler. They bring his unique methodology, tools, and decades of experience to help people navigate the challenges of grief.

"A mountain cannot pass through an hourglass. But sand can. Your unbroken heart cannot pass through grief. But your broken heart can. Love cannot breach you hard and proud and coiled. But if you are humbled and crumbled, love can make of you, a miraculous medicine for this world. Let yourself feel what there is to feel. Let yourself be broken."

Testimonials

"As a painting instructor and grief coach, Daniel helped me to create a painting that I can be proud of. Over the course of a year, he continued to work with me on a piece that feels honoring to so many aspects of my grief journey. Daniel’s coaching helped subtly guide me through the emotions that needed to be expressed, while also giving me painting tips to help make my work look professional! I am grateful for our time together."

“Working with Daniel is a transformative experience in grief expression. There are some things that words cannot express, but that’s paint, charcoal and ink can. Daniel is gentle & supportive and his classroom provides a safe space for artists of all skill levels to process their grief via art. This is a valuable healing experience that I heartily recommend.”

About Daniel Kanow

Daniel Kanow is a contemporary visual artist and grief educator based in Telluride, CO and Santa Barbara, CA whose work centers on guiding both individuals and groups in art and grief workshops—spaces where creativity becomes a pathway for healing, processing, and reconnecting with oneself.

Drawing from two decades of art-making across acrylics, oils, charcoal, and mixed media, Kanow brings the depth of his contemplative studio practice directly into his teaching. Daniel holds space for impermanence, surrender, emotional release, and the beauty found within what feels broken or unfinished.

In his workshops, participants are invited into a gentle, supportive process that blends expressive mark-making, mindfulness, and somatic awareness. Kanow’s method emphasizes presence over product, allowing each person to move through grief at their own rhythm while using art as a grounding and transformative tool.

Whether someone is navigating loss, seeking emotional clarity, or simply needing a creative container to reconnect with themselves, Kanow’s workshops offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space rooted in authenticity and deep listening. His unique blend of artistry and spiritual insight makes his grief-centered creative facilitation both powerful and profoundly human.

Based in Telluride, CO and Santa Barbara, CA programs offered nationwide virtually.
